Helpful
Hints for Overnight Care
Four Paws
tries to make your dog as comfortable as possible
while in our care. Here
are some helpful hints to follow:
- We
recommend that your dog arrive in the morning.
Although arrival times are not restricted, your
dog will benefit most from having a full day
o play before staying overnight.
- Please
have all instructions clearly written. It is
always helpful to us to know your dog's daily
habits including feeding, sleeping, bathroom
and any medications.
- Please
bring your own food and instructions on how
and when to feed. You may bring items that need
to be refrigerated. We will try to follow your
dog's feeding schedule as closely as possible.
- Please
have your items clearly marked with your dog's
name and your last name.
- You
may bring their favorite bed or blanket. We
also recommend something with your scent on
it. Please do not bring toys or bowls. We do
provide toys for the dogs in the daycare area.
If you would like to bring something for them
while they're in their sleeping area that's
O. K. but remember they are unsupervised while
in their sleeping areas. Please don't bring
something they may shred or can swallow.
Requirements
All
dogs must be spayed or neutered at an age generally
regarded to be appropriate by most veterinarians.
All dogs must be immunized, as determined by
your vet, against the following diseases: Rabies,
Distemper, Parvo and Bordatella. Each dog must
be friendly with other dogs and able to be handled
by our staff. This can
be determined at an enrollment interview which
requires an appointment.
Frequently
Asked Questions
Do
I have to bring my dog every day for the whole
day?
Our customers and their dogs have varied needs
and we are happy to accommodate them. So, you
can bring your dog in on any schedule that works
for you - from every day of the week to once in
a while, from a full day to a few hours.
Don't
the Dogs Fight?
The dogs get along remarkably well. Dogs are very
social creatures and, generally, love other dogs
and people. However, dogs are animals and do occasionally
get into fights, even dogs that normally play
together very well. Our staff is very alert to
that possibility and will generally stop a disagreement
before it gets to the fight stage. One of the
wonderful things about dogs is that they can have
disagreements, and the next minute, be best friends
again. There are some dogs that simply do not
like each other; these we keep in separate groups.
Do
any of the dogs ever get hurt?
Again, dogs are animals, and, therefore, not completely
predictable. Occasionally, there is an injury,
most often the result of rough play. This is a
little more difficult to monitor because we want
them to play and have fun, but we do our best
to slow things down if it looks like someone is
getting TOO rough.
I
have a small dog. Does she have to play with the
big ones?
We have a group of small dogs, each day, that
plays together in a separate room. However, some
of our small dogs prefer to play with the big
ones. We do our best to accommodate each dog's
special needs and preferences.
Is
there always someone with the dogs?
There is a staff member with every group; they
are never alone. |
