Holiday Rush
Four Paws would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for your continued business and for sharing your dogs with us.
I felt it necessary to explain why so many dogs were turned away this week. We always want to accommodate everyone but it just wasnt possible this past week.
Four Paws continues to grow every day. We are constantly enrolling new dogs as we continue to care for our veterans. There is usually enough room for everyone. This past week was a rather unusual scenario. Wednesdays are typically busy to begin with. This week we were caring for our overnight dogs as well. Some of which had made their reservations weeks in advance. Thanksgiving weekend is a very busy time for our boarding dogs. We also had many request from our regular Thursday dogs to come on Wednesday and on top of that it was raining which will prompt several more phone calls.
We ran eight play groups and accepted as many dogs as we possibly could. It would have been unsafe and irresponsible of us to continue adding dogs into the playgroups. The safety and well-being of your dog is our top priority.
We dont ever want to turn anyone away but please know that we do it for the safety of your dog.
Will this scenario ever happen again? Its possible. During the holidays and the summer months when we are busy with our overnight boarding we do get very crowded.
In the future we suggest that everyone make a reservation. We will accept dogs on a first come basis with reservations.
As a reminder, online reservations are recommended but we require 48 hours notice. This gives us time to pick up the E-Mail, check availability and respond to you. If you call or make a reservation in person, we require 24 hours notice. If you have regularly scheduled days, your dog will always be accepted on those days. Any change will require a reservation. And finally, please check our web-site and Facebook for updates.

Sunday Hours
Four Paws has decided to remain open on Sundays for daycare. We will be open from 7am to 6pm on Sunday with late pick up available to 9pm.
Health & Safety
We also would like to send out a reminder about fleas and front-line. Fleas are a pesky little problem that can cause other issues such as tape-worm and skin infections.
Although flea season is coming to a close, it is still recommended to use front-line year round as a precaution.
As always, please have your dog on a leash when entering and exiting our lobby and parking area and remember to always close the gate.
Staffing
The Four Paws staff is growing again. We have added a couple of new faces and also had some old ones returning.
This past spring we welcomed Monica and Jim to the team. Both are working as canine caretakers and are truly enjoying getting to know your dogs.
During the summer we also welcomed Michele and Ashley. Ashley is also working with the dogs and Michele has begun doing our Marketing and PR work. Michele is the person that does most of our Facebook work. Just in case you were curious, she is the person you are communicating with on Facebook.
We also welcomed back Debbie and Steven. Both had been gone for a short time to try some other things but these dogs are so addicting. They couldn't stay away for long and Four Paws is happy to have them both back.
Four Paws has also added a new manager to the team. Mike has been in training since back in April. He has been working mostly at night getting to know the ins and outs of the business as well as getting to know your dogs.
Transportation
Does your dog need a ride? No problem but again, we need some notice. Last minute requests for transportation can be difficult. Although we want to accommodate, there may not be someone available at the time requested to pick up or deliver a dog.
Please give us as much notice as possible when it comes to transportation. It helps us in the scheduling process.
Lost & Found
Over the summer we managed to accumulate a lot of left behind belongings! We have everything from collars to bowls, leashes, beds and blankets. If you left something behind, please be sure to claim it before we have to start getting rid of things.
Retail
Have you noticed some new brands in our lobby? Four Paws is now carrying Blue and Fromm brand dog foods along with Nutro, Evangers, Merrick, Wellness and Natural Balance. You'll find our prices and selection comparable to the bigger stores.
We can now order personalized name tags from Tizzie's Tags. Choose your tag and place your order with the front desk. Your personalized tag will arrive in about a week.
Four Paws Doggie Daycare is an indoor/outdoor daycare facility in which the dogs are uncaged and kept active all day. Wtih approximately 15,000 sq ft of fun, Four Paws dogs are allowed to play with other dogs and humans all day,! The dogs are in a play group with approximately 12 other dogs. They are only caged if they need a time out, which happens relatively infrequently, or the parents request they be crated for a nap.
In order to enroll your dog at Four Paws, you must schedule an enrollment interview. This 45 minute meeting will include a tour of our building, a chance for you to meet some of our staff, and then your dog will be introduced to some of our male and female dogs. This will allow us to evaluate your dogs temperament and play style. Once your dog passes our enrollment interview, they will be welcome to come in any time. In order to schedule an enrollment interview, please call us at (215) 428-4701 or make a reservation online.
Before you schedule an enrollment interview, please make sure you've read over our requirements to make sure your dog is eligible for enrollment at Four Paws.
You will need to bring documentation of your dog's vaccinations in order to enroll your dog at Four Paws. More information about this can be found in the requirements section.
If you would like to get a head start on the enrollment process, you can download the forms below and bring them filled out to your enrollment interview. If you are only planning on bringing your dog for daycare, then you will not need to fill out the overnight registration form.

Do I have to bring my dog every day for the whole day?
Our customers and their dogs have varied needs and we are happy to accommodate them. So, you can bring your dog in on any schedule that works for you - from every day of the week to once in a while, from a full day to a few hours.
Don't the Dogs Fight?
The dogs get along remarkably well. Dogs are very social creatures and, generally, love other dogs and people. However, dogs are animals and do occasionally get into fights, even dogs that normally play together very well. Our staff is very alert to that possibility and will generally stop a disagreement before it gets to the fight stage. One of the wonderful things about dogs is that they can have disagreements, and the next minute, be best friends again. There are some dogs that simply do not like each other; these we keep in separate groups.
Do any of the dogs ever get hurt?
Again, dogs are animals, and, therefore, not completely predictable. Occasionally, there is an injury, most often the result of rough play. This is a little more difficult to monitor because we want them to play and have fun, but we do our best to slow things down if it looks like someone is getting TOO rough.
I have a small dog. Does she have to play with the big ones?
We have a group of small dogs, each day, that plays together in a separate room. However, some of our small dogs prefer to play with the big ones. We do our best to accommodate each dog's special needs and preferences.
Is there always someone with the dogs?
There is a staff member with every group; they are never alone.
When dogs were first domesticated by humans, we used them for a variety of reasons, mainly to hunt and protect our families. However, as time went on and we invented alarm systems and grocery stores dogs fell into the more comfortable category of standard family pet. We no longer needed to take them everywhere with us; most bosses would frown upon a Great Dane at the water cooler, or a Cavalier in the cubicle. Unfortunately, this meant this meant that man's best friend was getting stuck with the short end of the stick, sitting at home alone for long periods of time. This resulted in stress and anxiety for the dog, guilt for the owner, and problem behaviors such as chewing or urinating in the house.
Along came Doggie Daycare to the rescue! Doggie Daycare is a way for pet owner's to be confident that their dog is having a good time, even when they aren't with them. Four Paws Doggie Daycare is a dog daycare facility located in beautiful Morrisville, PA that is devoted to the care and contentment of your favorite four legged friend. Rather than be stuck at home all day, Four Paws dogs run around, socialize, and generally do whatever their hearts desire. What did your dog do today?
Four Paws is run slightly differently from most other pet care facilities because our dogs are free of cages all day. They are placed together in groups of 12-15 and they play together all day! Our dogs are never crated, they are always in the play areas. Four Paws has 9 play areas sprawled on approximately 15,000 square feet! In addition, we keep our dogs from becoming bored by rotating them from room to room every hour. This gives them a fresh area to explore and play in and keeps them active and having fun.
Four Paws tries to make your dog as comfortable as possible while in our care. Here are some helpful hints to follow:
Helpful Tips for Overnight Boarding:
-We recommend that your dog arrive in the morning. Although arrival times are not restricted, your dog will benefit most from having a full day of play before staying overnight.
-Please have all instructions clearly written. It is always helpful to us to know your dog's daily habits including feeding, sleeping, bathroom and any medications.
-Please bring your own food but only enough food for your dog's overnight stay. You may bring items that need to be refrigerated. We will try to follow your dog's feeding schedule as closely as possible.
-Please have your items clearly marked with your dog's name and your last name.
-You may bring their favorite bed or blanket. We also recommend something with your scent on it. Please do not bring toys or bowls. We provide toys for the dogs in the daycare area. You may bring something for them while they're in their sleeping area, but remember they are unsupervised while in their sleeping areas. Please don't bring something they may shred or can swallow.
